👋 Hey, I'm Ahmed Hossam.
💻 I'm a Software Engineer who enjoys building backend systems and learning how things work under the hood.
🚍 I'm currently working full-time at OneBusAway, building open source software for public transit.
🤓 I'm mainly interested in backend engineering, distributed systems, databases, database internals, and public transportation systems. Recently I've been spending a lot of time learning about routing algorithms and transit infrastructure.
🌍 I love open source. I was a Google Summer of Code Contributor in 2024 and I'm mentoring GSoC students in 2026.
🌱 I like exploring new technologies and languages, especially Go, Node.js, and Ruby.
🏆 I enjoy competitive programming and have qualified for 1× ACPC and 2× ECPC.
